Week 8 Recap

Bossman (176.39) vs Pack Attack (121.60)

J Burrow went for 49.91, the biggest game by any player in this league all season, and Bossman (5-3) put up 176.39, the highest score of the week and their best of the year. H Fannin Jr. (25.70), J Smith-Njigba (22.90), the Jaguars D (20.00) and T Bass (16.50) piled on, and Bossman went 13-0 against the field. This is the team that has been scoring and not winning all season. Not this week. Bossman is now 86-18 against the field, and up to 90.3% to make the playoffs.

Pack Attack (3-5) never really had a chance, and the injury report made sure of it. L Jackson got hurt on the very first play of the game and may be done for the season. J Love came back from his injury, got hurt again in the first half, and is now expected to miss four to five weeks. Two starters gave Pack Attack 1.53 points combined, and T Pollard scored 28.80 on the bench in the spot J Love took. That is a 27.27 point miss, but it would not have mattered. Pollard in the lineup still gets Pack Attack to only 148.87. B Allen (23.10), P Nacua (21.00) and M Golden (16.95) did their part, and for the second straight week Pack Attack scored over 120 and ran into one of the best scores in the league. The KFFL AI picked Bossman and got it right. Pack Attack is down to 29.4%, but a 3-5 start is not a death sentence in this league. Nine teams have started 3-5 and still made the playoffs, including Pack Attack last year. Now they have to figure out who plays quarterback.

16hrs Ahead of You!! (136.37) vs teamAlaska (76.97)

The Game of the Week was over early. 16hrs (5-3) jumps to 82.3% to make the playoffs, right in line with what this game was worth. J Gibbs (28.95), the player I said had a tough matchup against Minnesota, went for 28.95. M Wilson (25.68), the player I said was in for a big game, delivered. B Irving (25.33) and D Kincaid (14.30), filling in at tight end, did the rest, along with the Buccaneers D (18.00). And 16hrs still left K Murray (18.53) and S Darnold (17.09) on the bench behind C Williams (11.01). Two straight weeks over 135.

teamAlaska (4-4) got a zero from Z Flowers, who lost his quarterback when L Jackson went down on the first play. K Monangai also scored zero, his fourth straight zero, and was still in the starting lineup. J Taylor (4.73) did not help either. D Maye (22.31) and C McLaughlin (13.20) were the only bright spots. The KFFL AI picked 16hrs and I picked teamAlaska, so add this one to the KFFL AI's column. teamAlaska falls to 16.8%.

Big Papa (72.67) vs Rapids Plungers (60.81)

How did Big Papa win with 72 points? Easy: the other team scored 60. Big Papa (5-3) went 1-12 against the field, and Rapids Plungers went 0-13, the lowest score of the week. Put together, it was the lowest scoring game of the season by a mile. Big Papa's 72.67 is the lowest winning score in the league this year, and they will take it. J Goff (7.52) started with C.J. Stroud on bye and did not do much, but T.J. Hockenson (12.90) and R White (11.92) did enough. That is three straight wins for Big Papa, who is now 5-3 and holding the sixth and final playoff spot at 40.4%. They are 39-65 against the field on the season. Some teams are just built to win ugly.

Rapids Plungers (4-4) had one of the worst days in franchise history. J Brissett, filling in for B Purdy, scored 0.85. T Tucker scored zero. The Chiefs D scored zero. B Robinson (5.07) and P Washington (2.47) gave them almost nothing, and only R Rice (15.65) and C Ryland (10.90) reached double digits. Their 60.81 is the second lowest score in franchise history, and the lowest came less than a year ago. I picked Rapids Plungers to win by five, and they lost by 11.86. They fall out of the top six to 34.8%.

Starrfavrerodg (140.95) vs BIGBOY! (108.90)

K Cousins has been one of the best quarterbacks in fantasy football this season, and I can't believe I am typing that. He went for 29.14, and since he arrived in week 6, only J Burrow and D Maye have scored more points at quarterback in this league. Not bad for a player nobody drafted in August! And this time Starrfavrerodg started him, while A Rodgers scored 1.44 on the bench. C Watson (16.65), T Kraft (14.65), J Cook III (14.38) and M Washington (13.60) all chipped in. And Starrfavrerodg won by 32 with T Allgeier scoring 34.00 on their bench. Starrfavrerodg is 4-4 and right behind Big Papa at 35.0%.

BIGBOY! (2-6) needed this one, and the trio of receivers I said would carry them did not. G Wilson (10.15), J Jefferson (12.65) and D London (2.60) combined for 25.40, and C Godwin Jr. scored zero in the flex. J Jacobs (21.25) and the Steelers D (19.00) were good. Everything else was not. The two-time defending champion is down to 3.4% to make the playoffs. The three-peat is all but over.

HHH (173.91) vs DaUnderdog (139.67)

Brother battle, first place against second, and HHH continues to dominate! Seven straight wins, 7-1 for the first time in league history, and the second highest score of the week. J Chase (29.65) moved over to receiver and B Tuten (28.68) slid into the flex with M Nabers on bye, and that move alone was worth nearly 30 points. J Love (21.76) and C Hubbard (20.30) both delivered from opposite sides of the Thursday night game, T McBride (16.60) did his thing, and even Q Lake (16.95) went off at D. HHH went 12-1 against the field. Nobody can call this team lucky this week. HHH is at 98.0% to make the playoffs and a 54.4% favorite for the #1 seed.

DaUnderdog (5-3) did everything they had to do and it was not enough. They patched three bye week holes, started T Lawrence (20.87) over B Nix (18.71), and scored 139.67, which beats ten other teams this week. T Higgins (39.75) was incredible, B Bowers (23.60) bounced back and J Coleman (15.88) delivered as a fill-in. A 10-3 week against the field and a loss. DaUnderdog is still at 87.6%, but HHH now has a two game lead in the race for the top seed.

pack slayer (93.74) vs Sportsfreak (79.54)

Of course this is how it happens. pack slayer, the team that has scored and scored all year and kept losing, finally gets a win in a week they did not crack 100. It snaps a three game losing streak, and of course they did it against the worst team in the league. D Swift (25.10) and J Parrish (17.45) carried them and DJ Moore (12.37) chipped in. M Stafford scored 7.14. pack slayer (3-5) is at 8.8%.

Sportsfreak (1-7) left 57.63 points on the bench, the most in the league. A Mitchell scored 25.10 and E Johnson 23.75, both on the bench, while X Worthy (3.65) started at receiver. Swap Mitchell in for Worthy alone and Sportsfreak wins this game. They are at 0.1%, and that is about as close to zero as the simulation gets.

PackerFANatic7 (109.94) vs U Don't Know (81.75)

Could PackerFANatic7 be making a run to the playoffs!? Two straight wins, 3-5, and the KFFL AI's most confident pick of the week came through. J Warren (21.53), D Prescott (17.23), L Burden III (15.80) and B Aubrey (13.70) led the way, and PackerFANatic7 is up to 7.1%. That is still a long shot. But I just pointed out that nine teams in this league's history have started 3-5 and made the playoffs. Two straight wins doesn't make a run, but four or five more might.

U Don't Know (5-3) had a rough day. J Allen (23.78) started, and P Mahomes scored 29.82 on the bench. K Gainwell (14.93) sat while O Gordon II (4.60) started. J Jeudy scored zero, DK Metcalf 1.80 and D Waller 1.55, and U Don't Know went 4-9 against the field. They are down to 66.2% and the fifth spot.

Odds and Ends

The all-play table. Bossman is 86-18 against the field this season, a ridiculous .827 winning percentage, and DaUnderdog is second at 70-34. HHH is fourth at 61-43 and 7-1. Big Papa is 39-65 and 5-3, holding a playoff spot with the worst all-play record of any team in the top six, and the third worst in the whole league.

Benches. Sportsfreak's 57.63 led the league and cost them the game. Pack Attack left 45.76, most of it T Pollard. Starrfavrerodg left 48.81, including T Allgeier's 34.00, and won by 32 anyway.

Playoff odds after eight weeks. Every team's chances from 20,000 simulations of the 42 games left. Six make it, and the dashed line is the cut. HHH is all but in. Four teams are between 66% and 91%. Then it gets crowded: Big Papa, Starrfavrerodg and Rapids Plungers are separated by 5.6 points for the last spot, with Pack Attack right behind them.

And the ledger. The KFFL AI bounced back, going 5-2, and I went 3-3. We disagreed on only one game, 16hrs against teamAlaska, and it got that one right. The KFFL AI is now 32-24 and I am 27-21, which puts it back ahead on winning percentage, .571 to .563. One good week and it is right back in it.
